Tactical Analysis
A team of simply immeasurable talent, beyond comparison, especially from midfield upwards. Clearly, I had to leave out some big names, yet endeavored to assemble a team with a strong offensive vocation without forsaking a good balance and without disrupting a playstyle based on ball possession.
GOALKEEPERS
Gilmar is universally considered the greatest and strongest Brazilian goalkeeper of all time. Essential in his play, calm, analytical, he was not a typical South American goalkeeper but rather a born leader capable of instilling confidence in the defensive line—a historically beleaguered sector.
DEFENDERS
As full-backs, I could not opt for anyone other than the duo of Cafu and R. Carlos, having had the privilege of watching them live countless times. Two full-backs who made history with very different and thus complementary characteristics. Their offensive inclination demands a somewhat more cautious tactical setup. In central defense, the cornerstone is Thiago Silva, arguably the greatest Brazilian central defender of all time. Alongside him, the sturdy Luis Pereira, though no other names stand out as much.
MIDFIELD
Ahaha, here things get interesting! With a team predisposed to attack, I needed a stabilizer, a midfield breaker who could almost play the role of the traditional centromediano metodista… and who better than Dunga? A magnificent interpreter of the role, he is, in my opinion, the best man for this task. Next to him, almost as an interior, an atypical all-around playmaker, Paulo Roberto Falcao, blending the technique of a juggler with essential plays, completeness, and vision. Choosing these two allows me to field more offensive players: the position of the trequartista is occupied by Zico, who will play between the lines, dancing elegantly like a Bolshoi ballerina.
FORWARDS
The attacking trident is represented by the crème de la crème. Pelé will play as a left inside forward, moving widely from the three-quarters line upwards, interacting with arrogant wisdom and technical superiority with two other sacred monsters, namely Garrincha—his friend and national team companion—and the sacred monster O FENOMENO, Ronaldo, an atypical forward, an incredible athlete with a divine touch of the ball.
